Guns have been an integral part of American society since forever. Guns are enshrined in the constitution I like to think of the US fun culture as a key factor that separates US from other nations. The American Army can defeat any armed force in the world with the exception of the American people. No other nation in history has had a civilian population so capable of defending itself against any would-be tyrant. Guns allow civilians to defend themselves and their loved ones independent of any government involvement. The Americans believe guns are good.
Gun culture is a myth. Yes, almost every American owns them, however for most it is something they have for defense or for hunting. For those who call guns a major hobby and large part of their life is probably less than 0.01% of the population. So gun culture is a myth created to whip up support of anti-gun policy. Guns are a part of collective culture as Americans, but there is no “gun culture” as people are often made to believe.
