It is not an obligation to help others. People that help others do not do so out of obligation, they do it because they wanted to, because doing so makes them feel good about themselves and because they have a sense of responsibility to others. A lot of people think you have to be buoyant before you render help to others, no, you don’t have to. Little act of kindness to someone lacking can go a long way. Helping others is a decision that comes from within, not a sense of obligation.
Your primary job in life is to take care of yourself. You are solely responsible for your caretaking if you are physically and mentally fit. You do not have an obligation to take care of people who are not members of your family. However, it is a kind, good. responsible thing if you can help those in need. Many people do believe in donating to charities that care for those who cannot care for themselves. And yes, other people should be responsible for themselves if they are mentally and fit to do so.
