All advise says meet at first in public place and use your creeper judgment. Or meet where it’s group activity like sailing or bowling, dancing.

They have successfully created a huge gap between them and their kids such that their kids cannot and will not tell them anything. The kids tend to do whatever it is they do in secrecy just because “mom and dad won’t be happy with it”. The tight restriction they place on their kids tend to break loose when their kids go to college, they will be on their on outside the tentacles of their parents. Then, they have all the space and freedom to do whatever without anyone asking them why.
