How do I get back a file I mistakenly closed without saving?
It depends on what happened to the document in the first place, and what has since been done with Word and the computer. In that case, you’ll only lose any work done after the last autosave, which is two minutes by default. If you closed Word and hit “no” when it asked if you wanted to save any unsaved work, the file is gone.
