For me, I always knew something was wrong, always knew I had this obsessiveness over morbidity and abuse and trauma, but internalized the idea that I was seeking it all for attention. My trauma realization was more about peeling off the toxic layers of self-protection rather than actually realizing I had been severely hurt. Still feels crazy how I could have not known all the things I know now, regardless.
