It’s usually not a formal requirement, but individual immigration officers have huge discretion over whether or not to approve any application that comes across their desk, and prior travel history will often be a factor they consider. It normally wouldn’t come into consideration if you exceeded all of the eligibility requirements such as, plenty of money in the bank, flights and accommodation booked, travel plans reasonably within budget, demonstrable obligation to return home at the end of the trip, etc.
