Not caring about their children. They can fake it if their around other people, because they like to be admired, but there’s something fake, which doesn’t ring true, if you are familiar with narcissism. Sometimes narcissistic parents will push their children to do things they don’t want to do for their own benefit, rather than for the benefit of their children. However, non narcissistic parents also will induce their children to do things they don’t want to do, but it will be for the child’s benefit. This can make it tricky to distinguish between the two. Rather than focusing on the question of narcissistic parenting, you could consider narcissism in general. That is, rather than consider if the person is a narcissistic parent, just ask if they are narcissistic. A narcissist will always act narcissistically.
