On average, a period lasts 3–7 days. However, when first starting, this can be irregular. Along with this, genetics and/or other health problems can affect this. There are plenty of medical conditions that cause periods to last longer (mine are 11–14 days), heavier and more painful. Luckily, in some cases, you can have some tablets that can stop the pain. Some women are also on The Pill. This stops their period for as long as they take it.

I went to the doctor for this recently because I had an ear ache after being sick for two weeks. They found that my ears were clogged and flushed them out. My doctor advised me not to clean out my ears regularly, but to use ear drops that you can buy at a pharmacy only once every 6 months. He said never to use the drops in your ears if you are experiencing pain though, as this could be an infection, and the drops can make it worse. The drops are very easy – it just takes about a minute to soak in your ear and a minute to rinse them out.
