The principles and tools are almost the same, just the UI is very different. Blender lacks some tools Maya has and vice versa, but they are nearly identical. If you learn Maya first, you will definitely have an easier time learning something the Blender 3D afterwards than the other way around. That’s because Maya is complex and not as user friendly. What will be most useful for you is the basic animation tools which are very similar among most 3D applications. The modeling part, not so much. Different 3D software do it differently. However, Maya is an industry standard application so it is great that you got to learn it first.
