It’s not unheard of to refuse to use your boss as a reference, especially in situations when someone is job hunting before they leave their current job. If you went to grad school, I’d greatly consider using your advisor as your top reference. I still list mine as a reference and it’s been a few years.

I had no idea this was a thing, my ex did this where she love bombed for the first month or so then three months in she said she didn’t feel the same about me anymore and broke up with me. I before didn’t believe in saying something was too soon or too much, because I was like if we feel it then why not. But now I see how it can be damaging. Lovebombing happens really fast. Naturally, it takes some time to fall in love and develop real emotions.
