Children with dysfunctional coping skills grow-up to become adults who have developed dysfunctional ways of seeing the world; they are the people with borderline personality.

Since deceitfulness, lying, aliases, and defrauding others for personal profit or pleasure, are traits of sociopathy, it seems unlikely that a sociopath would not be self-aware of such personal traits, even if not diagnosing themselves. Moreover, given the public knowledge of sociopathy/psychopathy, it would take considerable denial to not be aware of one’s own traits; but, denial is a known human trait.
