Smoking is a voluntary risk that smokers are ready to take. Risk of cancer is high for smokers but still, proportions of smokers who actually get cancer is very small. Then there are examples in front of smokers where people smoked like hell and lived long without cancer. They rationalize their reason to smoke using such petty excuses. This is one of many classical approaches of smokers to justify their smoking. The problem however lies at what age one starts to smoke. I have never met a person who started to smoke in their midlife. Most of the smokers start smoking in their teens. At that time, most of them just follow their friends. The body is also at its peak with perpetual tolerance to smoking and drinking. Nowadays, I hear many cases of cancer, tumor etc. such realistic situations automatically compel you to quit smoking or at least reduce it.

We can state for a fact that the astronauts that went to the moon traveled in time. When they arrived back on earth, they landed in the future. Admittedly it was only factions of a second in the future though. This is due to the theory of relativity where the time passes at different rates relative to the speed at which you travel through space. Due to the speed of the astronauts traveling to the moon and back, time passes more slowly relativity to time on earth. It can also be said in reverse, to the astronaut time passes faster on earth relative to the astronaut, so when they arrive back to earth they will arrive at some future time.
