My daughter seems to be more matured than her age, and she doesn’t have friends within her age group. How can I help her make friends around her age?
It isn’t a bad thing if your daughter considers you her best friend though. If you’re concerned about her making friends with her age groups, you may try to register her into some programs where she can relate and interact more with children of her age. As a man, you should be able to hold up your side of a conversation in multiple topics. If you have an obsession, be it a sport, movies, a TV show, model trains, anything at all; that does not mean that there’s nothing else going on in the world. Know a little bit about everything; politics, what’s going on in the world, science, geography, culture, etc.
Always look after your appearance. This does not mean that you need to be dressed in the latest trends and follow the movements of the fashion industry (unless you’re into it), but there are some standards that I think must be followed. Be clean and showered always, wash your teeth, don’t let you fingernails become long and dirty. Iron you clothes, clean your shoes, make sure you buy clothes that actually fit you. If you wear a beard of any length, make it at least appear intentional. Have the right clothes for the right occasion.
Respect people and their opinions, even if you don’t agree with them. Let people speak, don’t interrupt them. Don’t skip the queue, look people in the eye, don’t be late to anything. Be respectful of other cultures when you travel.
