But say your period is 5 days long and you have sex on day 4. Sperm can live for days in fallopian tubes so on day 9 there would likely still be sperm in your body. If Your period was going to arrive on day 23 that month then you could ovulate on day 9 – 14 days before your period is due. Then there would be an egg and some sperm in your body just ready to meet and make a baby.
