There are a lot of women, even here in the U.S., who give birth in hospitals and get cut through their perineum muscle and later go on to experience painful sex or other sexual dysfunction. I’m also anti-episiotomy. It’s barbaric and completely insane. It’s completely asinine to set up a woman lying on her back or semi-lying and expect her to normally birth a baby. Doctors who give episiotomies just add insult to injury when they then cut through a woman’s muscle to supposedly help the baby come out. That is not normal. I feel terribly sorrowful for the women who have been subjected to female genital mutilation. I cannot imagine having my clitoris circumcised and having my vagina wired shut.
