Hmmm…priorities, learn your priorities right. Most career opportunities are in your twenties. Most employers and investors are very interested in a determined twenty year old who’s eye is focused on their career. No one gives two cents about a thirty something who has blown off the past decade in self indulgence. Now they expect someone is going to give them a meaningful job because they’re bored of being an immature child and want to play at being a grown up for a while.

On a different side of things, my advice would be to put a little money into your equipment. I don’t mean invest a ton up front, just make sure you are set up for success. You need to be a fast and accurate typist. Slow typing speed will just not cut it, and having to make endless corrections will make the job take so long that you will waste your time and lose money. You need to have clear and accurate hearing skills. You must be able to hear and understand what is being said on the audio so you can type it. Good headphones or earphones are so essential when it comes to transcribing. And, if you are finding it really difficult, there are tons of transcribing softwares for you out there to do the job for you. But they don’t come for free, you have to pay.
