People are citizens or subjects of actual nation-states, not an abstract nation-state concept called “the world”. You can be an American, Australian, or Indian citizen. You cannot be a world citizen. You can be a world traveler, a stateless individual, a person who holds multiple citizenships, or someone who believes belonging to any specific nation-state is a ridiculous notion, but in reality you still cannot be a so-called world citizen.
