You tend to want to do business with someone who feels familiar and even might end up buying something you don’t even need because of it. Conversation should have the spirit of commitment from the sales person, making it more valuable for the customer to willingly commit and allocate his valuable life time for the sales person. In sales, it is actaully the spirit and commitment to a specific customer by a salesperson that matters which is an imporatnt sales language looked by the customers.

Even though consumers know the benefits of a brand, they might think and buy from other brands. So, at hey might not be willing to buy a brand just because consumers just don’t think of it when in their purchasing situations. I personally disagree with that, I don’t think asking a man his age is fine. As to why it is rude to ask, I think that it implies that you have seen some incongruous look or behaviour that has made you question something personal and to ask outright is tantamount to saying “you are not normal… But I could excuse it if you are not the age I assumed”.
