Left to me, I wouldn’t worry much. He must have his reasons and not that it’s because he doesn’t trust you, that’s likely not the case. I also don’t think it would be wrong to tell him your feelings were a little hurt by him not being open. If it was just the fact that he didn’t tell you he was trans I don’t think it would be an issue, but the fact that you were worrying about him being sad and he wouldn’t tell you why doesn’t seem very healthy to me.
