Nigeria is struggling, yes inflation has become part and parcel of Nigeria’s Economy, yes corruption has only known elevation, yes education is losing its value fast, yes insecurity is rife in every nooks and cranny of the country, yes health care system has been failing etcetera, but all this doesn’t make Nigeria a failed state. Failure is not an identity but an action. In case you’re wondering what the difference is, one is permanent and the other is not. Failure shouldn’t define anybody or place because failure is a problem to be faced, dealt with, and learned from. Nigeria may be encountering a series of failures, but that doesn’t make it a failed state because it still possesses the potential of transcending those failures. Calling Nigeria a failed state is a pessimistic conclusion.

I think this makes lying always morally wrong. However, there are times when the morally wrong choice is the lesser evil. I think you have the right idea that there are some times when lying is a better course of action than not lying, but I think it’s still morally wrong in those cases; it’s just that not lying is morally even more wrong.
