The only reason people say cats are scared of cucumbers is because they think cats think it looks like snake. Why exactly? I say that’s bullshit. For one thing, cats know the difference between a snake and a cucumber. They know the cucumber is not a snake even if they don’t know what it is. Cats are much smarter than you want to give them credit for if you think that. Plus, they know the cucumber is something that they don’t want to eat. A snake would be something they would want to eat possibly. With the exception of the large constrictors, most snakes are prey to cats. I’ve kept snakes as pets in the past, pythons and king snakes, and I’ve always had to keep my cats away from them. If any of them ever escaped, they were dead. Every cat I’ve ever had attacked snakes on sight when given the opportunity and they were not unique in that way.
