Textiles? Paper? Metal? Glass? All these industries are far more polluting than plastic. Production of plastic is far more energy efficient and less polluting than any of the above material. I wish everyone would eject that word from their vocabulary, because it is a word that was imposed on my ancestors in order to denigrate, subjagate and abuse them in an attempt to dehumanise them and justify their chattel slavery status. Fast foward and that is the word I know racist people think of first when they look at me. Changing “nigger” to “nigga” to my mind has not changed the meaning of the word. It is still insulting, derogatory and dehumanising. I do not think very highly of black people who use it towards me and I am very hostile towards non black people who use it towards me.
