So, apply your hyaluronic acid, HA for short, on freshly cleansed skin while still quite damp. HA is a humectant, it binds to water and draws this moisture into the skin. If you apply to dry skin, it will seek out moisture from the deeper layers of your skin, draw it out and leave it more dehydrated. It also needs to be covered with an occlusive type cream, to avoid the moisture evaporating (trans-epidermal water loss), if it not covered with a cream, balm or oil type occlusive, the moisture evaporates, and again, will dry out and absorb moisture from your skin and leave you drier.
