I think it’s because most smoothies are made with organic raw vegetables and fruit. And when you consume raw vegetables and fruit, you have more fibre in your body- this means that you will most likely excrete more, have less drag and toxins in your body when you consume fresh raw smoothies regularly. And when your body starts “detoxing” from the fresh organic fruit and vegetables, you’ll more likely feel lighter. And when you feel lighter you’ll most likely want to keep up with this positive loop so you make healthier food choices and eat better. Plus, most of us don’t chew enough so blending the fruit and veggies aid our digestion system. Of course, the benefits of raw vegetables and fruit alone may require another essay. But to sum up, when you eat raw foods, your chances of staying/being at your ideal weight are higher given your healthier food choices – by virtue of this you’d probably have cut down some processed junk in your die, the calorie concept may not apply to raw foods – this is debatable but I find this concept quite interesting – Stay Lean and Fit Without Counting Calories?

Whether a lump is cancerous is first determined by a frozen section while you are still in surgery. The Pathologist looks at the tissue for cells “not playing nice in the sandbox”. Aggressive growth, bizarre cells, polyploidy, crowding the margins of normal growth are hints that the surgeon is in the right area and how much more needs to be looked at. Sentinel lymph nodes will be screened to determine the staging of the cancer and whether it is prone to metastasis. If not, you may not need follow-up Chemo or just a burst of radiation. From that first impression, further work will be done looking at tumor markers with flow analysis or special stains and whether you inherited helper genes that enabled the cancer to grow. Then your oncologist will determine what treatment will best match your particular cancer.
