When you expect so much from something, you can feel this way. Your kind of people gets too happy and too sad very quickly so it is justified that you think something bad will happen if you get very happy. Actually something bad won’t happen in many cases but your feelings are quiet intense. It doesn’t matter if it related to happiness or sadness. You know everything in this world is in boolean terms. Day and night, happiness and sadness, high or low etc are making the life in balanced state. Excess of something will always lead to excess of opposite to it. Monks or saints chooses the neutral state so that they can’t be very happy or very sad. They can even control the emotion.
