If you are comfortable with showering, get yourself to take baths until you can comfortably submerge. Then try going to a public pool and getting into the hot tub, if that goes well, get to wade in the pool and go as deep as you feel possible. Once you can do that, get to submerge under the water where you can stand up easily (chest deep or deeper). After that, it’s probably best to see what courses pools in your area offer for new adult swimmers or ask about private one on one lessons.
