In my understanding, this is something that has worked to a lucky few who have been in unique situations to be able to fake it till they made it. They are very vocal about it! They preach it to anyone who listens. Unfortunately the larger majority of people who fake it and don’t make it, do not have any incentive to preach don’t fake it, odds are you will get busted on the second day and won’t make it.

When this happens, it often leaves the individual feeling like a failure or like they don’t have what it takes to stay sober. A feeling of hopelessness can set in quickly, as the perception that they’ll never recover takes hold. However, it is important to understand that not only does relapse happen, it is quite common and, some might say, a natural part of the journey of recovery from addiction.
