Some things can’t be recycled in a useful and economically justifiable way so recycling everything isn’t feasible and what are you going to do with someone who doesn’t recycle everything? There’s no problem with buying a gun if you have been treated, it is only if you have been declared mentally unstable by a judge or doctor, that’s only when it can an issue. I have bipolar disorder and I have been hospitalized twice voluntarily in the last 20 years, one of which was fall of 2020. I own many firearms and have had my concealed carry permit for the last 9 years. If you have any predisposition towards mental illness and want to own firearms I think it’s your duty to have a concrete plan to be able to get them out of the house should you have any bout of depression or any mental instability. There’s no shame in asking for help, and temporarily giving up ownership is much better than ending up dead because of a momentary bad situation. Having the plan in place and being able to put it into play before I became a danger to myself saved my life this fall.
