Migrating to Australia, all you need to have in your backpack

Australia is one of the most popular emigration and holiday destinations in the world, and several people travel to and from Australia for numerous reasons, whether it is to relocate with family, work, study abroad, or enjoy a relaxing holiday. Life in Australia offers incredible opportunities for work, travel, education, numerous career opportunities, an efficient healthcare system, a laid-back lifestyle, and the perfect work-life balance.

Some of the basic and major items you need to have in your backpack include:

1. Documents and Visa: The most important items you need to pack are Visa grant letters, all forms of identification, references, police clearances, skills assessments, qualifications, resumes, and an extra baggage allowance document where necessary. It is highly recommended that you purchase a small folder in which each document can be filed into different sections for easy access, so that if you need to provide it at any point during your journey, it will be easily accessible.

2. Phone and laptop chargers: this is as important as other items because family and friends would want to check up on you and you might as well want to take pictures, which you would not have to worry about when you get to your destination and have a low battery. So, if you have this, you might as well plug your phone into a nearby socket.

3. Plug adapters and USB flash drives: To use any electrical items, you are going to need a plug adapter; therefore, it is advisable you travel with about four adapters to save you the time of waiting. Also, on the USB flash drives, you could save all your documents as a backup of your important documents.

4. Medication: For emigrants on any regular medication, it is advisable to pack a 3 or 4-day supply of the medication which can be tucked into the corner of your bag. If you are traveling with children, bring any medication you know they will require on the flight, such as mini bottles of paracetamol and ibuprofen.

5. Change of clothes and pyjamas: Upon arrival at your destination, you would certainly want to change, and looking for clothes can be very tiring. Having a change of clothes or pyjamas ready to change into makes things much easier, which means there would be no searching around in suitcases trying to find a set of clothes for everyone.

6. Essentials for Traveling with Kids: When traveling with young kids, long flights can be particularly challenging. Therefore, you would be required to pack a few essentials such as a favorite soft toy, snacks, small books, and mini toys when traveling with younger kids.

7. Mosquito Repellent: It is important to take precautions to prevent insect bites, mosquitoes, and sandflies; therefore, the usage of a repellent containing DEET is recommended. However, for individuals with sensitive skin, a repellent such as Trek sensitive is a good alternative and is clinically proven to be as effective as 50% DEET formulas.

8. Travel pillow: this is important because it will help support your head and neck and help reduce aches and pains during your flight. Although you will usually get a pillow from the airline, there really is no substitute for a good-quality neck pillow.

Additionally, these things should be sorted long before you head off to the airport, and the last thing you want to be doing in the last few days before your trip is running around checking passports and visas or buying travel insurance on the way to the airport.
