I do not enjoy my birthday and I always spend the day hoping it would roll by so fast. I do not appreciate people wishing me happy birthday. Why do I tend to feel this way?

Some thing I like to do when I’m being moody on my birthday is to remember all the things that make me happy and the things that I’m thankful for. Usually the things that make me instantly happy are simple and small like feeling the sand between the toes at the beach, the way the wind brushes my face, playing with my dog, admiring flowers etc. If I can, I’ll enjoy those things in person. I’ll then treat myself by pampering, boosting my self confidence by telling myself I’m beautiful, and eating food that makes me happy. Maybe you can watch your favorite shows and eat something you like? Bake something? Even the worst days are still only a couple hours. I wish you all the happiness and love.
It might be because of the expectation management of what you think your birthday day is going to be like versus the one it actually is. I would suggest planning in advance for something fun and exciting, like taking a day off work or going out with your friends to do something you wouldn’t do every day. But in whatever you do, do not isolate yourself. Instead of isolating, maybe invite someone over, or go out to someone’s house. Maybe take a walk to a park if the weather allows it. Splurge on a gift for yourself and do your favorite activity. My 23rd birthday last year was pretty miserable and depressing until some gifts started coming in for me. I intend to go all out for my 24th which is just few days away. I know I am not doing anything serious, but I already made sure to buy myself some really nice stuff to make myself happy. Who knows, I may even get a cake this year. ahahha
