First recommendation is to avoid or reduce the physical symptoms is to focus on slowly exhaling. Breathe in normally but focus on breathing out slowly. You should feel your pulse slowing. You can even feel your pulse on your wrist or neck and feel this working, if it helps. I always thought that was nice.
I practice vipassana meditation, which involves controlling your breathing. As a result, when I’m feeling anxious or sense the start of a panic attack I can start to breathe in that same rhythm, and it calms me. You form this pattern by meditating regularly.
