Not all schools are great about handling dyslexia. Find some other parents of children with dyslexia to see if effective intervention is available in your area. Ask what program, minutes and group size, and how quickly are they catching up? If you can figure out how to afford it, get a private tutor. Dyslexia organisations? Have a look around.
In contrary to a lot of things you might have been told about dyslexia, people with dyslexia do not special education. They can easily get help from a psychologist or a tutor. Sometimes, some people with dyslexia change as they grow older. Considering your child for a special education cos of dyslexia will be preventing your child from having same opportunities as other children of their age. Most of the time, special education is not needed, it is not the solution.
