Sex should not hurt, it’s supposed to be pleasurable. And if you’re experiencing painful sex, then that’s your body sending a message that something is definitely wrong. Sometimes, painful sex can be as a result of childbirth, menopause or tightened pelvic floor muscles. This can be treated with therapy, to help relax your pelvis so as to prevent pain during sex.
Sex can be extremely painful if you do not spend sufficient time in foreplay. It is important to get aroused before you let him penetrate.
When you are aroused, your body releases natural lubricants in your vagina which reduces friction on penetration ensuring it does not hurt. Talk to your partner to ensure he also understands the importance of foreplay. With sufficient foreplay, you’ll start feeling wetness in your vagina, at which point you should signal your partner to enter. Trust me, it won’t pain this way.
