At what age is depression easily noticeable in kids?
Depression is a mental health disorder characterised by persistently depressed mood or loss of interest in activities, causing significant impairment in daily life.
Ages affected; Toddlers (3-5 years): rare
Children (6-13 years): common
Teenagers (14-18 years): very common
Young adults (19-40 years): very common
Adults (41-60 years): very common
Seniors (60+ years): very common
Symptoms may include (but not limited to); anxiety, apathy, general discontent, guilt, hopelessness, loss of interest, loss of interest or pleasure in activities, mood swings, or sadness, early awakening, excess sleepiness, insomnia, or restless sleep, excessive hunger, fatigue, loss of appetite, or restlessness, agitation, excessive crying, irritability, or social isolation, lack of concentration, slowness in activity, or thoughts of suicide and weight gain or weight loss.
More than you ever think. I was always a depressed kid. Things in home weren’t always well. My parents frequently fought, separated until they agreed upon a mutual divorce. I frequently looked up about new ways die. Playing with the thought of ending my life. I was too much of a coward to end my life cause there was something my mom used to say about suicide: In my religion we believe in rebirth and someone who ends their life will have to go through the same things in the next life too. Maybe my depression has something to do with my belief on God. He doesn’t exist. Sometimes, I would muster enough courage to end my life and one of these times I ate a lot of dust and that screwed up my digestive system. I was affected with a worm infestation. If you know about a real little kid whom you suspect is depressed. Talk to him/her. Ask what’s bothering them.
