  1. I’ve tried arguing with them before, it’s fruitless, they have a handful of memorised passages they believe are relevant for every situation, and nothing you say is really heard.
    It’s better to just keep ignoring them, don’t make eye contact, they assume it’s an invitation and if they do single you out, don’t acknowledge, that’s a win for them, in their mind you’re on the hook if you so much as break your step. If there’s no other choice, a firm “not interested” is all you need, as you step around and carry on, insults are a cue for a sermon, criticism is cue for a sermon and attention is a cue for a sermon, it’s best just to let it go, keep walking, and ignore their attempts to get your attention.

  2. Tell them you’re not interested. This is if they are approaching you in your personal space and not a controlled setting that practices religion or someone else’s home. If none of these factors apply you can walk away at anytime. If you are actually being harassed or being forced to listen against your will, take legal action.
