  1. Heavy beer consumption can prevent your body from burning fat. This is because your body prioritizes the breakdown of alcohol over other sources of fuel, including stored fat.
Heavy drinking could contribute to an increase in body fat. However, a few studies examining this theories have shown mixed results. Over the long term, drinking beer regularly but moderately in portions doesn’t seem to lead to an increase in body weight or belly fat. Nevertheless, drinking more than that could very well lead to significant weight gain over time.

  2. It’s not the drinking beer, it’s what people who drink a lot of beer do: sit around and do nothing. If you ate a lot of pasta and sat around and did nothing, you’d likely get a big belly. I had an uncle who was a hard worker, who didn’t drink a lot, but he had a beer belly. Just was where he added weight. If you notice, men tend to add weight above their waist, and women below, that’s just where we add weight. So while drinking beer can result in a beer belly, that’s not necessarily the cause nor necessarily the result. Keep active, limit your consumption and you will be good.
