Protest is one of the ways people show their activeness in the running their state. When the citizens  protest over an issue, they want change. How fast does a government act over outcries from the people?

Protest have become more common a phenomenon these days, mostly due to the change in government. Protests are visible way citizens show grievances and hold government officials to account. Several factors contribute to positive impact of protests on policies. The reason for the protest is a huge factor, mobilization of resources, and protest tactics. All protesters are saying is, they aren’t satisfied with current government policies, and they’re expressing their displeasure the best way they know how. A recent event of protest was The George Floyd protest which began in Minneapolis on May 26, 2020, after the killing of an African-American man, George Floyd by a Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin who pinned him down with a knee on his neck for more than 8 minutes. The protests addressed police brutality and racism generally.

I believe protests have influence and effects on government policies, although, protests can be quite dangerous at times and may not always be successful, but at least the people are able to tell the government their thoughts and point of view. The effect of protests also depends on how strong the protest is, and how a lot of people join in. This could poke the government to rethink their decision or change their course of action. However, if the protest is weak, and their demands are unreasonable, the government is unlikely to be react positively. The effect public protests have on government action also depends on the government’s level of tolerance and open-mindedness. Whichever way, a government should always listen to its people. Protests have a huge effect on what action a government takes on current policies. The government should always do all it can to satisfy its people. Otherwise people will lose their faith in their government.
