Do narcissists understand sarcasms or it rather trigger them?
Narcs are really so sarcastic. They use sarcasms a lot but they don’t allow people use on them.
You can literally say anything sarcastically or ironically and it will be used against you at face value. They are allowed to be sarcastic, you are not allowed to be. They can often berate you for being sarcastic. Only they deserve the gift of sarcasm. Because it’s such a narcissistic injury to them, and it’s such a confusing thing to understanding requiring empathetic processes. Just like if they roast you, supposedly in a friendly way, you can’t return the roast.
Sarcasms are often subtle criticism and narcissists will use to put people down. Sarcasm is a tool that a narcissistic person might use, and often does, as a form of cruelty. However, sarcasm doesn’t have to be cruel, and one could do cruel things without being a narcissist, so sarcasm is simply a trait that’s common among narcissists, such as cruelty or criticism.
